Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four are not only the stars of a blockbuster Hollywood movie, they’re also a bunch of classic Marvel comic book characters, with a history that goes back to a superhero revival in the mid-1950s. The characters actually appeared together for the first time in 1961, in a story called ‘Meet the Fantastic Four’

Having encountered a cosmic storm on a risky space mission, the four characters (initially normal humans) have been genetically altered and developed unique super powers.

The Thing

Alter ego of Ben Grimm, The Thing is… well… a thing. He’s represented in the Hollywood film as a Hulk-like rock monster, more fantastically powerful than any other living thing.

Human Torch

Originally Johnny Storm, the Human Torch bursts into flame whenever he gets excited. This lasts for a few minutes and enables him to fly, as the flames make him lighter than air. The Human Torch is the Invisible Woman’s brother.

Mr Fantastic

Mr Fantastic was pilot Reed Richards until the cosmic storm turned his body to rubber. This enables Mr Fantastic to stretch his limbs and squeeze through tiny spaces, sneaking into rooms and altering the appearance of his face.

Invisible Woman

As the name suggests, the Invisible Woman is completely invisible, although her clothes can still be seen. The Invisible Woman’s original name was Susan Storm.
